WRC: Rally Portugal & Rally Italy postponed

Both Rally Portugal and Rally Italy are postponed as a result of the global outbreak of the Coronavirus. The decision to postpone the events was agreed unanimously by the organisers of the rallies, the FIA and the WRC Promoter.

The postponements of Rally Portugal and Rally Italy mean there are now three WRC events postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak, with the postponement of Rally Argentina already announced during Rally Mexico.

With rounds 4, 5 and 6 postponed, the next scheduled WRC event is round 7, the Safari Rally in Kenya (16 – 19 July).

WRC Promoter managing director Oliver Ciesla said:
“All parties will work to identify potential alternative dates for the postponed rallies later in the season should the COVID-19 situation improve, taking into consideration championship logistics, the ability of competitors to travel again and the ability of the country in question to prepare and host the WRC at such a time.”
