TOYOTA SIGNS MEEKE FOR WRC 2019 - CONTRACT EXTENSION FOR LATVALA
Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT has confirmed Kris Meeke as their new driver for the 2019 WRC season.
The team of 4-time WRC champion Tommi Mäkinen has signed Kris Meeke for the 2019 WRC season. There is no information given about the contract duration. The 39-year-old driver from Northern Ireland was dropped in May this year by Citroën Racing due to ''an excessively high number of crashes''. Meeke has a total of 5 WRC rally wins up to now, his last rally win dates from Rally Spain last year. Paul Nagle, Meeke’s current co-driver, won’t be co-driving Meeke in 2019. It’s yet to be announced who Meeke’s co-driver will be next year.
Meeke will partner Ott Tänak and Jari-Matti Latvala at Toyota in 2019. Toyota also announced a contract extension for Latvala today. Current Toyota driver Esapekka Lappi is joins Citroën Racing to partner Sébastien Ogier next year.
