CAMILLI TO DRIVE VOLKSWAGEN POLO R5 AT RALLY SPAIN DEBUT
Eric Camilli will be driving the Volkswagen Polo GTi R5 at Rally Spain next month. The Spanish round of the WRC will be the competitive début of the Polo R5.
The former works M-Sport driver has been part of Volkswagen’s testing programme this season. Camilli competed at two events (Monte Carlo & Germany) so far this year with a Fiesta R5.
Volkswagen will be entering two Polo GTi R5’s at Rally Spain. It’s yet to be confirmed who will be driving the second car. The names of Pontus Tidemand and Petter Solberg are linked to the second Polo R5 seat in Spain.
Tidemand has also been part of the Polo R5 testing programme this season whilst competing in WRC2 with Skoda. The 2017 WRC2 champion is currently second in the WRC2 standings, 7 points behind Skoda teammate Jan Kopecký.
